My Nicaragua trip in March 2024 with Troy Tours; comments on the trip:
This tour operator was an excellent choice and was a large part of why my trip to Nicaragua was so enjoyable. They created an amazing itinerary which packed everything I wanted to do into a wonderful 8-day adventure. Our guide and the driver met us at the airport. They greeted us, gave us a nice gift bag (wine and candies) and went over some basic information about being in Nicaragua. They took the time to answer our questions about Costa Rica such as using Cordobas versus Dollars. We were escorted to the driver’s van and given a packet with our prepaid vouchers for all the lodging and activities. The packet also included our itinerary and instructions. I purchased a hammock while in Masaya and was worried about taking it to the airport as it was longer than my check-in bag. They sent me some wrapping materials and gave me advice on how to deal with the oversized item. One of our favorite parts of the experience with Troy Tours was the driver that initially picked us up in Managua (where we overnighted) and subsequently drove us to Leon and Granada was so helpful and accommodating. The company really paid me a lot of attention and I felt like a VIP the entire trip. I really enjoyed my time in Nicaragua and cannot recommend this travel agency enough.
What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?
The most enjoyable part of Nicaragua for us was the people. From the tour guides to the locals, everyone was so nice and pleasant to talk to. The tour guides were all great at making sure you enjoyed the activity. The zipline “monkeys”, the hanging bridges guide, and the coffee tour guide were all outstanding. I would like to thank the boat ride in Granada in particular. I learned an incredible amount and had a wonderful tour. Letting us release some newly hatched butterflies in Solentiname was an amazing moment and was the most memorable part of our trip. It is unbelievable that such a simple thing could be so humbling. Having that Monarch butterfly crawl out into my hand and then take its first flight into the habitat is something I will never forget.

Our tour to Nicaragua – March 2023 We loved our time in Leon and were very impressed with Troy Tours. We enjoyed all of our excursions and had Jose. We enjoyed our time with him so much the first day on the kayaking tour of En Isla Juan Venado Las Peñitas that we were very excited the following day to discover that he would be our guide for volcano boarding on Cerro Negro. Our guide, Jose, spoke flawless English, and offered interesting information about the local vegetation, wildlife, and history. He is also an excellent photographer and helped us get some great pictures during both tours. He positioned us to enjoy phenomenal sunsets on both days. Although the photographs are fabulous, they do not do the memories justice. We loved our kayaking and beach time, and the climb to the top of Cerro Negro was well worth the effort for the thrilling volcano boarding on the way down. I would highly recommend Troy Tours to anyone traveling to Leon and Granada who enjoys active recreational tours. I would suggest that you ask for Jose if he is available. Great company and great value for amazing adventures.

Excellent Experience Juan Carlos and Jorge were fantastic. Juan Carlos was clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about his country what he does which made the trip very enjoyable.

I would highly recommend Troy Tours to anyone traveling to Leon and Granada who enjoys active recreational tours. I would suggest that you ask for Jose if he is available. Great company and great value for amazing adventure.
