Our nine-day Classic France tour is the affordable way to see the highlights of Paris plus the Loire Valley and Normandy. With fascinating history and the beautiful scenery combined with famous landmarks, this tour will be a memorable one.
You’ll visit Paris, France’s interesting and charming towns, including Rouen, best known for its connection to Joan of Arc. Here, step into the splendid gothic cathedral, which was once the world’s tallest building and the subject of a series of Claude Monet’s paintings, just like the water garden in Giverny, depicted in some of his most famous canvases. Visit Rennes, with its traditional, colorful timber-framed houses; Blois, a picturesque town with its renaissance castle located in the town center; and Chartres, famous for pilgrimages to its 13th-century gothic cathedral. Day 1Depart US

Depart US for Paris, France.

Day 2Paris

Upon arrival in Paris, you will be met by Troy Tours representative and transfer to your hotel.

6:00 PM meet your tour manager over a Welcome drink and short tour orientation.

Day 3Paris

After breakfast, guided city tour of Paris will feature a drive along the Champs Elysées to the Arc de Triomphe, View the Eiffel Tower, Les Invalides, the Latin Quarter with Notre Dame Cathedral site, Sorbonne University, the Pantheon, Saint Germain and the Opera district. Your tour will end at your hotel

PM Optional Tour: Guided Tour of Louvre Museum, skip the line tickets.

Day 4Paris - Bayeux (258 km)

After breakfast, depart for Giverny and visit the former house of Claude Monet and explore the famous gardens which inspired many of Monet’s paintings. After noon, begin your introduction to Normandy by stepping back in time to a historic battle, and see the Bayeux Tapestry also known as Queen Matilda’s Tapestry, woven to commemorate the Norman invasion of England by William the Conqueror in 1066.

Day 5Bayeux - Normandy Landing Beaches - Mont St. Michel (190 km)

After breakfast, drive to the Landing Beaches, sites of World War II and the D-Day invasion. Visit Sainte-Mere-Eglise on the Cotentin Peninsula, where the allied invasion began 75 years ago on June 6, 1944. Visit the Airborne Museum.

Afternoon, visit Utah Beach, then make a stop at the Ranger Memorial at Pointe du Hoc. Continue to visit Omaha Beach* and the site of the Normandy American Cemetery and memorial. The cemetery covers 172.5 acres and contains the graves of 9,387 American soldiers.

Day 6Mont St. Michel - Tours (285 km)

After breakfast, visit of Mont St. Michel, rising from the sea on a mighty rock. Cross the causeway by shuttle and browse the narrow streets and admire the views of the surrounding bay, with time for lunch on your own in this charming town. One of France’s most recognizable landmarks, the fortified town is crowned by the mighty 10th century abbey. After lunch, continue to the Loire Valley

Day 7Loire Valley

After breakfast, travel to the magnificent Chateau de Chenonceau. Stretching across the river Cher, the chateau boasts a 197-foot gallery, built over a series of arches. Take some time to explore the extravagantly furnished rooms and formal gardens, added by the mistress of Henry II, Diane de Poitiers.

Afternoon visit the visit of Château du Clos Lucé (House of Leonardo Da Vinci) built in 13th century, used as a summer house by the kings of France since 1490. King Francois I who introduced the Renaissance to France brought Leonardo da Vinci to his court.

Late afternoon, you will be our guest at the Troy Tours’ WINE & CHEESE tasting party before returning to the hotel in Amboise.

Day 8Chambord - Chartres - Paris (240 km)

After breakfast, a short photo stop at Chateau de Chambord, the largest residence in the Loire Valley built for Francois I in the 16th century by 1800 men and master masons, continue with a visit to Chartres, home to the greatest Gothic cathedral in France. Originally built in 1020 AD, the cathedral contains the sacred Veil of the Virgin relic and a world-renowned collection of stained-glass windows

Afternoon return to Paris and visit Mont
