An amazing adventure of 9 days and 8 nights hiking and visiting volcanoes in Nicaragua. Experience the stunning landscapes from the peaks of 6 volcanoes and discover the colonial towns of León (the country’s second largest city) and Granada (the oldest continuously inhabited colonial city in the Americas).  A trip to Ometepe Island by private bus and ferry to visit Concepción Volcano, where a strenuous full day trek to its summit will leave thrill-seekers more than satisfied. Experience sunset at Masaya Volcano and then venture through a bat cave and lava tunnel. This package will leave you with once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Day 1 - Saturday Arrive in Managua

Arrive in Managua. A Troy Tours representative will meet you at the airport in the arrivals hall after clearing customs. You will be transferred to your hotel. Welcome cocktail.
Overnight at Hotel Los Robles, a colonial boutique hotel.

Day 2 - Sunday Managua to Leon

After breakfast, you will have a brief Managua city tour. After the tour, we begin the journey with a drive to the colonial city of León, known as the country’s intellectual center. We will see the oldest cathedral in Central America; and don’t forget to get a view from the roof to admire the whole city. Later continue with a walk through the main plaza to visit the childhood house of Poet Rubén Darío, the brightly colored El Calvario and the Recolección churches. We will continue your day with a visit to the Ortiz Gurdián Latin American Art Gallery.

Day 3 - Monday León- Posoltega-Matagalpa

Early in the morning, and after breakfast we go to Posoltega will visit to Banana plantation, continue north to Matagalpa. At an altitude of 2300 feet above sea level, Matagalpa is al known as the “Pearl of the North “, the country’s fourth largest city, and the largest in the interior. Afternoon on your own to enjoy the natural surroundings of your hotel, which borders the 300-acre Selva Negra Nature Reserve. Selva Negra or Black Forest is aptly named since the forest canopy is thick and only allows a fraction of natural sunlight to reach the forest floor.

Day 4 - Tuesday Coffee Tour

Coffee tour at a gourmet coffee farm and historical review on European settlements during the 19th century at the Matagalpa mountains.

Day 5 - Wednesday Matagalpa - Volcan Masaya – Granada

Drive south to the colonial city Granada, enroute visit the Masaya Volcano National Park, the country’s first and largest national park, home to the still active Masaya Volcano . Overnight at the centrally located Hotel Colonial, around the corner from the Parque Central and less than 700 feet from the Granada Cathedral, which was originally built in 1583, the present structure dates from 1915 and is dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption (Nuestra Señora de la Asunción)

Day 6 - Thursday Granada

After breakfast, visit the historic center with its colonial and new classic buildings, followed by a boat excursion between three hundred beautiful islets on Lake Nicaragua, also known as Lago Cocibolca, the largest lake in Central America.

Day 7 - Friday Catarina & San Juan de Oriente – ManaguaCatarina & San Juan de Oriente – Managua

Tour to the Catarina outlook (Mirador de Catarina) at the Apoyo Lagoon Nature Reserve and visit to the Indian Ceramic Workshop and School Valentín Lopez at San Juan de Oriente, a town famous for its pottery. Continue to Managua in the afternoon.
Overnight at Hotel Los Robles.

Day 8 - Saturday Managua to US

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
